The Art of Social Media, Power Tips for Power Users by Guy Kawasaki and Peg Fitzpatrick was the first book I decided to read this year, and I am so glad it was. I actually feel smarter for having read it.
Social media has always been a bit of a mystery to me. I’ve attended seminars and asked experts for advice, but I never seemed to really wrap my head around the idea. I have been posting on the usual social media outlets, but never really seeing much response. Kawasaki and Fitzpatrick’s book gave step-by-step lessons on what to do to purposefully use social media.
Full disclosure: I have a wonderful social media company that I work with to help me accomplish my rather large amount of social networking tasks. (www.socialpieonline.com). I have been using this book to brainstorm with the Social Pie team to complement their strategies. I think the combination is helping us make great strides.
If you’re in charge of your company’s social media, you MUST read this book.
